Kaberamaido district council has been cautioned to implement a law encouraging clans to demarcate land by planting trees in their land boundaries.

This was sounded by the acting Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Lt. Lutaya Mwanga while meeting the councillors recently at the district council hall.

Mwanga said that this would reduce cases of land wrangles and murder if clans accept to demarcate their land within themselves.

He noted that several cases of muder have been recoreded in the district
where even relatives kill one another because of land wrangles.

In the related development, the RDC also asked the Environmental and Forest officers to discourage local communities from planting sisal in the land boundaries saying, sisal spoils soil fertility.

The council that was chaired by the district speaker, Joseph Emusu resolved to discuss a bill of district forest foer 2007/08 financial year.

The speaker said this bill will soon be passed and it encourages the primary schools and the general public to atleast plant trees to boost timber economy for the future generation.
